How to Choose the Right LED Driver Power Supply

First, you need to provide the LED lamp’s specifications, such as power rating, number of LEDs connected in series and parallel, current, voltage, and so forth. Otherwise, there’s no way to select a suitable power supply—after all, you wouldn’t choose the power supply first and then match it with the LED lamps, would you? After all, the LED lamp’s power requirement should be determined based on factors like room size and desired brightness. Selecting an LED Power Supply: 1. Current: The ideal output current of an LED power supply should be around 90% of the LED lamp’s rated current—not exceeding the rated current, or the LED lamp’s lifespan will drop dramatically; nor should it fall below 70% of the rated current, as this would significantly reduce the LED lamp’s brightness. Ideally, the accuracy of the LED power supply’s output current should be within ±5%; the higher the accuracy, the better. If the current accuracy exceeds ±10%, absolutely avoid using that power supply—it not only causes unstable brightness but also drastically shortens the LED lamp’s lifespan. 2. Voltage: The output voltage range of an LED power supply should ideally cover 80% to 120% of the LED lamp’s rated voltage; at this range, both efficiency and power factor are relatively high. The minimum output voltage of the LED power supply must be less than 90% of the LED lamp’s rated voltage, while the maximum output voltage must exceed 110%. Otherwise, differences and inconsistencies in the LED bead parameters could prevent the LED lamp from lighting up altogether. Although a wider output voltage range may lead to lower efficiency and power factor, it won’t affect normal operation. Dongguan Liangrui Electronics Co., Ltd. was established in October 2011 and is located in Hengli Town, Dongguan—a region with convenient transportation links. It takes less than one hour to drive north to Guangzhou, south to Shenzhen, east to Huizhou, and west to Zhongshan. The company’s factory covers an area of 5,200 square meters and includes injection molding workshops, wire harness workshops, AI component insertion workshops, surface-mount technology (SMT) workshops, assembly workshops, potting workshops, and finished-product workshops. We offer comprehensive services—from R&D and production to sales—covering LED power supplies, home appliance power supplies, medical power supplies, communication power supplies, and waterproof wires. All of our products have passed safety certification standards set by major developed countries such as the U.S., Europe, and Australia, including UL, CUL, TUV/GS, CE, SAA, and PSE certifications.

LED Power Supply Selection:
1. Current: LED power supply The output current is best maintained at around 90% of the LED lamp’s rated current—never exceeding the rated current, as this would drastically shorten the LED lamp’s lifespan. Likewise, the output current should not fall below 70% of the LED lamp’s rated current, since doing so would significantly reduce the LED lamp’s brightness. Ideally, the accuracy of the LED power supply’s output current should be within ±5%; the higher the accuracy, the better. If the current accuracy exceeds ±10%, such a power supply should absolutely not be used—because not only would the LED lamp’s brightness become unstable, but its lifespan would also be severely shortened.
2. Voltage: Ideally, the output voltage range of an LED power supply should cover 80% to 120% of the LED lamp’s rated voltage; at this range, both efficiency and power factor are relatively high.
