Power adapters are mainly divided into two types: switching power supplies and linear power supplies. 1. A switching power supply is a type of power supply that uses modern electronic technology to control the on-time and off-time ratio of switching transistors, thereby maintaining a stable output voltage. Typically, the switching power supply in a power adapter consists of a pulse-width modulation (PWM) control IC and MOSFETs. Its advantages include high efficiency, small size, and the ability to operate over a wide voltage range. Its disadvantages are significant electromagnetic interference to the power circuit and relatively difficult troubleshooting when failures occur. 2. A linear power supply converts AC power into an unregulated DC voltage through a transformer and a rectifier-filter circuit. To achieve high-precision DC voltage output, the power adapter must employ a voltage feedback circuit to adjust the output voltage. Advantages: This power supply technology is mature, the circuit is simple, and it does not suffer from the interference and noise inherent in switching power supplies. Disadvantages: The voltage feedback circuit operates in a linear mode, resulting in high power consumption by the adjustment transistor and low conversion efficiency. Additionally, due to the use of inductive transformers, the equipment tends to be heavier.
